Last August, Díaz-Balart, a Republican politician and representative of the Florida 25th congressional district, sent a letter to President Donald Trump, commending his consistent policy toward all dictatorships in our hemisphere, referring to the cases of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
About the FFM report, whose mandate was extended for two more years, the Congressman pointed out that “have made clear, the basic rights and liberties of the Venezuelan people will not be respected under the brutal grip of Maduro and his thugs.”
Therefore, Díaz- Ballart also questioned the elections announced for December as “just another cynical attempt by the Maduro regime to obscure its corruption and illegitimacy.”
The Congressman called to the international community must continue to demand the release of all political prisoners, the restoration of the democratic institutions as well as free, fair, and transparent elections, “For this to happen, Maduro must go,” he sentenced.
